
Singer, songwriter, producer and vocal coach TJ Armand completed his undergraduate studies at Berklee College Of Music and studied with Anne Peckham until his graduation in 1994. As a protégé of the late Grammy Award winning producer Arif Mardin, he assisted many recording sessions during his employment at Atlantic Records. He attended many sessions with Michael Crawford, Bette Midler, Roberta Flack, Dionne Warwick and Chaka Khan, all Mardin Productions from 1990-1996. He worked as a producer for CBS Radio (Mix 98.5, Eagle 93-7) and MJI-Clearchannel from 1996 to 1998. In 1998 he won the ASCAP Special Award for his musical comedy ‘Welcome to Stony Brook` which was performed in Boston.
Armand continued his vocal career as a vocal coach for many years and taught voice lessons, music marketing, music business -management in various schools in Europe and the Middle East (ITU Conservatory) . Armand returned to Boston in 2008 and is the lead singer of a new band; Breathing The Void (album due Christmas 2009). After signing a publishing deal with EMI as a songwriter in 2006, Armand continues to produce independent artists-bands. His interest in contemporary music (rock, pop, R&B, blues, jazz, musical theatre) led him to develop new methods of vocal coaching and allowed him to share his diverse background with many students. Armand conducts his vocal workshops at Sanctum Sound Studios in downtown Boston and also consults the studio on their sales and marketing strategies. |
